BDSM stands for Bondage & Discipline, Domination & Submission, Sadism & Masochism.

BDSM Slave

The term BDSM Slave is used to refer to a BDSM enthusiast who assumes a Submissive role in their BDSM relationship, and has consented to give their BDSM Master (or BDSM Owner) complete control over a set of pre-agreed areas regarding their life. A "BDSM Contract" is often used prior to the Slave assigning responsibility to their Owner, in order to establish boundaries and limits that both parties are in agrrement with.

BDSM Master

The title of BDSM Master is normally given to a person who is deemed to have mastered eithing something (a particular BDSM technique for example) or is considered the Master of someone else. The role of BDSM Master can be assigned to males, females and trans genders. Many BDSM Masters assign this title to themselves in order to clearly define the role they wish to assume when being involved in a BDSM relationship.

BDSM Mistress

This title is often assigned to a Dominant BDSM female. BDSM Mistress is also a commonplace term used to refer to a professional BDSM Dominatrix. Many Dominant females in the BDSM world use this term to refer to themselves and to make clear their intentions for a BDSM encounter. The term is not used in the historical sense, where it was commonly used to refer to the female partner of a married male.

BDSM Owner

The term BDSM "Owner" is used to refer to a person, either male, female or trans, who has assumed the role of taking responsibility for another BDSM enthusiast (this person is often referred to as their BDSM Slave).

BDSM Dominant

The term Dominant is used to refer to a person of any gender who assumes the dominant role in a BDSM Encounter.

BDSM Dom

A shortened form of the word "Dominant" - the term BDSM Dom is generally used to refer to a Dominant BDSM male.

BDSM Domme

Based on the word Dominant, the term BDSM Domme is used to refer to a Dominant BDSM Female. The different spelling from the word "Dom" helps to distinguish between Dominant BDSM males and females, although the pronounciation is the same.

BDSM Domina

A term commonly used within Europe to refer to a Dominant BDSM Female.

BDSM FemDom

Another term for a Dominant BDSM female.

BDSM FemDomme

A variation on the spelling of FemDom.

BDSM Kinkster

A fairly vague term that someone of any gender can use to demonstrate their interest in "kinky" sexual acts or encounters.

BDSM Submissive

This term refers to someone of any gender who assumes a Submissive role in a BDSM relationship.

BDSM Sub

A shortened version of the term "Submissive".

BDSM Switch

A "BDSM Switch" is a person who enjoys assuming both Dominant and Submissive roles in a BDSM relationship, and as such is happy to "switch" between BDSM roles as the encounter dictates.

BDSM Pet

Unlike a BDSM Slave, a BDSM Pet is shown a great deal of affection by their Owner or Master, much like a pet is.

BDSM Brat

The term BDSM Brat refers to someone who has assumed the Submissive role in a BDSM relationship, but who may also be occasionally disobedient or rebelious towards their Dominant BDSM partner.

BDSM Top

A BDSM Top is a person who assumes responsibility for taking control (or "giving") in a BDSM encounter.

BDSM Bottom

A BDSM Bottom is a person who assumes the "receiving" role in a BDSM encounter.

BDSM Sadist

A Sadist is a person of any gender who derives pleasure through inflicting humiliation or pain upon another person, or persons. The term is not exclusivley reserved for BDSM culture, and does not imply that the person receives any sexual arousal or gratification from their behaviour.

BDSM Masochist

A Masochist is someone who enjoys pain or humiliation being inflicted upon them by another person. Again, the term is not exclusivley reserved for BDSM culture, and does not imply that the person receives any sexual arousal or gratification from their behaviour.

BDSM Sadomasochist

A comination of the words "Sadist" and "Masochist", a Sadomasochist is a person who enjoys both Sadistic and Masochistic behaviour.

BDSM Ageplayer

This term is used to refer to either partner in a BDSM relationship where the two members in the relationship are of significantly different ages.

BDSM Adult Baby

An Adult Baby is some who will assume a role like that of a baby, toddler, or infant and mimmick their behaviour. This will often include dressing up as a baby, being bottlefed, and wearing nappies or diapers.

BDSM Daddy

The male "adult" partner in a BDSM relationship that invloves Age Play.

BDSM Mummy

The female "adult" partner in a BDSM relationship that invloves Age Play.

BDSM Baby Boy

The male "baby" partner in a BDSM relationship that invloves Age Play.

BDSM Baby Girl

The male "baby" partner in a BDSM relationship that invloves Age Play.

BDSM Primal

A BDSM Enthusiast who adopts primal-like behaviour - similar to that of an animal or caveman.

BDSM Hedonist

A person who pursues pleasure in all forms, often to excessive limits.

BDSM Fetishist

A person who achieves sexual arousal or gratification through a particular object, act, body part or clothing.

BDSM Vanilla

The term Vanilla is used to refer to someone outside of the BDSM scene, whose sexual interests are considered conventional.

BDSM Curious

Someone who is interested in BDSM relationships or activity but who has not yet partaken in any activity is said to be BDSM Curious.
